MEETING NOTES   

           

            The Annual Meeting of CNYPSG, Inc. was held on April 17th. Members selected Margaret Gantner, Cathy Hardy and Nancy McCaffrey to serve on the Board of Directors for three-year terms.   Following the meeting, the group viewed a video tape entitled ÒFall PreventionÓ from the Parkinson Care Series.

            Ann Dygert, Occupational Therapist at Faxton- St. LukeÕs Healthcare was our guest speaker at our May 15th meeting. She gave us valuable information regarding the in-patient acute care rehabilitation unit at their facility.

            President Pat Moylan opened the June meeting with the presentation of gifts to Rev. Bruce Webster and to James Kehoe in recognition of all of their help to our group for many years. Both gentlemen are retiring and will be missed by our group for their many kindnesses.

            Guest speaker at our meeting on June 19th was Ronald Brement, Deputy Fire Chief in the Rome Fire Department. His message emphasized the need for everyone to have working smoke detectors in appropriate places in our homes. He also recommended that everyone have a carbon monoxide detector as carbon monoxide can cause illness and even death. Brement advised that in case of fire, you first call 911, instead of trying to put the fire out yourself. Another suggestion was if you call 911 for an illness or injury, try to have a clear path for the emergency crew to get to the patient.

            A special THANK YOU to Myrtleann Seifried for the great job she has done providing refreshments for our group meetings!! Your goodies have been ÒOOH-SO-GOOD!!Ó

WELCOME!!

 

            ItÕs always a pleasure to see new faces at our Support Group meetings  and we are happy to say ÒWelcomeÓ to those who recently joined us for the first time! In May, Jim Kehoe and Lori Bascom were with us. Joining us at our June meeting were newcomers Wilhemina Johnson, Margaret LaPera, Richard LaPera, Josephine McAllister and Charlotte Pesklak. We hope these new friends will take part in our many activities.

The Central New York ParkinsonÕs Support Group, Inc. Board of Directors held their annual meeting on April 24. 2007. Members of the Board are Erhard Gantner, Margaret Gantner, Barbara Grogan, Cathy Hardy, Bob Luberda, John Matterese, Nancy McCaffrey, Marge Moylan, Pat Moylan, Myrtleann Seifried, and Hank Taylor.  Officers elected for the coming year are:
