MEETING NOTES

CNYPSG members and friends met on July 20th at PatŐs Picnic Pavilion in Rome for our annual picnic. Good food, good fellowship and even good weather made an enjoyable afternoon for everyone. Pat Moylan presented the Walter H. Dickson awards to the deserving individuals. (Story to follow).

Our guest speaker for the September meeting was Judy Schultz, President of ED12 Retiree Council, New York State United Teachers. Judy gave a very informative presentation on the new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and how it may affect us. We appreciate her taking the time to share this information with us.

We were pleased to have Carl Nelson and Alma Scheidelman with us for the first time at our September meeting and look forward to having them join us on a regular basis. We also were pleased to welcome Toni Accattato, a graduate student from Utica College who is pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy.

Walter H. Dickson Memorial Awards

Outstanding people in our group are recognized each year at our annual picnic when the Walter H. Dickson Memorial Awards are presented. This year, as always, President Pat Moylan presented the awards to two very deserving people chosen by the membership.

The recipient of the CaregiverŐs Award was Thea Matterese. Thea is known best for her part in providing the wonderful refreshments at each monthly meeting. Her ready smile is always apparent as well as her willingness to give assistance to anyone who needs it.

The person chosen as outstanding Parkinsonian this year is equally deserving of the honor. Barbara Grogan, who received the award, is always ready and willing to help with anything that needs to be done. As one of our greeters, she is a good example of a PD person with a positive attitude.

Certificates of recognition were presented to the other nominees who also deserved to be honored. Parkinsonians who received certificates were Margaret Bailey, Doris Gallagher, Robert Schaal and Dave Timerman. The Caregivers who were recognized were Barbara Barker, Charlie Gallagher, Helen Kinne and Rose Marie Taylor.

Our CONGRATULATIONS to them all!!
