MEETING NOTES   

 

            CNYPSG members met on January 16 for their first meeting of 2007. The group viewed a video tape, ŇDiagnosis ParkinsonŐs disease: You are not alone,Ó followed by a group discussion. All agreed that the tape was very informative and would be especially helpful to those people newly diagnosed with PD.

            Our February meeting was cancelled due to the ValentineŐs Day snowstorm. Snow banks were high and roads very narrow and it seemed a better idea for us all to be in the safety of our homes!

            We were pleased to have Patsy Glista, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Utica office, as our guest speaker at our March 20th meeting. She gave a very informative presentation about Home Safety in Caregiving. She emphasized the following Principles of Care which included:

á       Keeping your loved one safe from harm.

á       Helping to maintain their privacy.

á       Helping them maintain their dignity.

á       Keeping the lines of communication open.

á       Encouraging them to be as independent as possible.

á       Taking precautions to protect yourself and your loved one from getting an infection.

                              Under the Weather?

 

            We are sorry to report that many of our members and friends have had a lot of health issues recently. We hope all are on the road to recovery and looking forward to enjoying Spring! CNYPSG, Inc. Annual Meeting

 

            The annual meeting of the Corporation of the Central New York ParkinsonŐs Support Group, Inc. will be held on April 17, 2007. This year four people need to be chosen by the Corporation to serve three year terms on the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee has submitted the following names to be voted on at this meeting: Margaret Gantner, Barbara Grogan, Cathy Hardy and Nancy McCaffrey. Shortly after that, the Board of Directors will meet to select the officers for the coming year.
