MEETING NOTES

CNYPSG, Inc. held its Annual Meeting on April 18th. The membership selected Erhard Gantner, John Matterese and Hank Taylor to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Our guest speaker for the day was Patsy Glista, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Utica Chapter, who gave us a very informative presentation about the Oneida County long term care ombudsman program. She expressed the great need for more volunteers to make this very necessary program more effective.

Patrick Burns from Strong and Burns Funeral Home in Rome was our guest speaker on May 16th. He talked about how you can plan funeral arrangements at any time and by discussing this with your family ahead of time, you can make your wishes known. Pat fielded questions from the audience and had booklets available for our use.

We had the opportunity at our June meeting to split up into two groups, one group of PD patients and a caregiverÕs group. This is a chance to discuss our feelings with our peers and exchange ideas. The membership also cast their ballots for the Walter H. Dickson Memorial Awards.

WELCOME!!

MEETING NOTES

ItÕs always a pleasure to see new faces in our Support Group and we are happy to say ÒWelcomeÓ to those who recently joined us for the first time! Tom and Betty Nielsen were newcomers in May and Louis and Judy Heitz and Tom Warzala were with us in June. It was also great to have Vincent & Adele Palazza back with us again! We hope these new friends will take part in our many activities.

What a pleasant surprise we had at our June meeting when PD residents of the Presbyterian Home were able to join us thanks to the Home providing transportation and a staff person to accompany them! It was another great service provided by the Presbyterian Home!!
